Spring Rain

Do you ever have days where you think you might just be going a bit dippy? I am happy I’m not living with a psychiatrist today as I’ve done a dozen things and forgotten what it is I’m doing already, and the day is still young! I don’t always eat breakfast these days, but I decided to lash out this morning and make myself some Aldi toast (bread from Aldi that is)...nothing fancy. I found myself after spreading some butter and jam, poised and ready to put coffee granules on top until I realised that the coffee goes into a cup, not the toast. Silly woman that I am at times, I strongly suspect it may have something to do with a certain feline creature who likes to party at night and sleep all day (well most of it anyhow). I woke up at one point overnight with something in the bed next to my head. It was inanimate and cold....and I had the presence of mind to think, bloody hell, it’s a mouse or worse, a R.A.T.!!!!!! Upon inspection though, I was relieved to find it was a dangly toy tha...

Tuesday

Today is Tuesday. My head is in the clouds as for a long time today I really thought it was Wednesday, but here we are and for once I've gained time instead of losing it. I'm currently sitting, waiting patiently for an ultrasound and joy of joys a mammogram. We are so fortunate in the country of ours, despite how badly done by we feel at times, to have screening available in the prevention and early detection of insidious diseases such as breast cancer and  prostate cancer to name two.  Someone within my family was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and whilst I don't relish the thought, my GP and I felt it time to check the old girls out so here I am. As this all happens in Wang it gave me the opportunity to check out a couple of shops and go to a big supermarket for a change. Ahhh the things we take for granted.

Music

So, here we are.... It’s Saturday. Another week almost done and dusted. Another week to cross off the calendar. A week further away from my husband. It’s been six months now. Bloody unbelievable. I could use a few different profanities for that line, but I daren’t as I might be banned from my own blog. I’m not sure who monitors these things. Our of my realm of knowledge I’m afraid so I’ll take the cautious path so as not to offend anyone. Funny how I still have a leaning to tell Murray stuff. I still expect his frequent (very) phone calls to make sure I’m ok. I took a phone call last week off someone very familiar to me and I could have sworn it was Murray initially. My heart did a crazy bit of a flutter at that and I must have sounded very grumpy towards my sibling but I settled quickly so that was that. I am digressing a bit I might add as Murray is not my topic of conversation today. I actually want to express my gratitude for two ears that continue to hear reasonably well and ...

Home

So today I did an extra, not as a midwife and not as a nurse, but as a volunteer shop assistant at the local hospital opportunity shop. All moneys raised go towards purchasing hospital equipment - new urgent care trolleys and refurbishing their palliative care unit as prime, recent examples. I've been working there once a week for a couple of months now and really enjoy it. The other volunteers have been lovely to me and it's been interesting as they discuss their families and the issues within this smallish country town. The shop is relatively small in comparison to others nearby (there are three in our town all up), so we are unable to accomodate furniture unfortunately  but we accept clothing, linen, shoes, crockery, books, toys and other bits and pieces. It's actually interesting going through the bits and pieces people donate. Most of it if perfectly resalable, but occasionally we get old worn clothes, broken plates and bits and pieces you would take to the tip if it w...

Rain

Today I want to start by saying there's a light and gentle rain falling after two perfect sunshiney days. I am grateful for this as I know my plants will be. My legs are tired following a big walk (for me) yesterday but I have stuff to do so I have to suck it up as only a princess can do. Visitors for dinner tonight...roast lamb  roast veges, mint sauce and gravy. Sounds good eh! Watch me stuff it up somehow. One or the other will end up being cold Im sure but hey  we cannot be perfect in every way unless we're Mary Poppins can we? I often think about how I'd be if I were to move back to the big smoke but I know I cannot. I adore my peace and tranquility not to mention the raucous galahs and cockatoos that visit. The sound of rain on my roof would be lost amidst the traffic noises so I shall stay put for now. I know I am fortunate to have such stunning views from my home. I only wish Murray was still here to share it with me. He was such a great human. Gentle, kind, friendl...

Today is day one of my gratitude to humanity, the world and all living creatures. I have so much to be thankful for. I have plenty to be sad about I know, but I also have lots of daily happenings that manage to give me a feeling of gratitude, of still being alive. I am grateful for family, primarily extended family on this day. I visited a beautiful niece, her husband and their two children whilst they are holidaying for a few days in Bright. I had such a lovely time with them all and even though I was exhausted following the walk we did along the river that runs through Bright, it was a day of warmth, sunshine and laughter. We had lunch in Bright, ice cream in Bright also, then I left for home whilst they continued their holidaying. I was fortunate enough to drive home safely, go to the butchers and the supermarket before making my way home to my dogs and little cat. I was energised enough to hang some clothes out on the line , feed the animals then feed myself and for the rest o...
